Bipasha belongs to Bengali Hindu family was born in New Delhi. Her father was a civil engineer and mother is a house wife. Later her parents moved to Kalkatta and setteled there. She is the middle of three sisters. At her early age, she wanted to be a medical professional but when she was at 12 standard,she turned to commerce and complete her graduation degree with commerce background. Bipasha is considered as a ugly girl at her childhood for her dark complexion but she is the hottest figure in bollywood.

She was first seen in a music video called "Tu" from the album Kismat which made Sonu Nigam. Then she enroll in modeling world and still moves in bollywood.

She came in media by chance. After completing her graduation degree, she took part in a super model competition and won the show. Finally she came in modeling through this show. She won the heart of the whole nation by her appearance. Her first film "Ajnabee"(2001) with co-star Kareena, Bobby, and Akhsay gave her chance to prove herself and she properly used this opportunity. She awarded best actress (debut) by filmfare.
