Preity Zinta was born in a Hindi rajput family. Her father is Durnand Zinta and mother is Nilprabha Zinta and her father was an Indian army officer who was died by a road accident when she was only 13 years old. Her mother was also seriously injured. Preity has also two brothers. She is the middle of her brothers.

In her early age, she taught to be an English graduate but later, she studied on criminal psychology. She started her carrier as a model, later she was casted in film "Tara rum pum pum" which is never made. Then she had done a small role in movie " Dil se".

Her first release film was " Keya kehna" in 2000 by Kundan Shah was gone to hit list. She won the film fare best debut award. Later, she was recommended in many hit film such as "Soldier", "Mission Kashmirr", "Dil Chahta Hey" and another hit movie was "Har Dil Jo Paayer Karega" co-star was Salman Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Shahrukh Khan.

She started next year by "Farz" with Sunny Deol. "Chori Chori Chupke Chupke"(with Rani and Salman) and "Yeh Raaste Hai Paayer Ki" these two are another landmark of Preity Zinta in bollywood.

In 2002, another movie "Dil hai tumhara" was blog buster in box office. "koi.. mill gaya" (2003 with Shahrukh and Saif Ali), "kal ho na ho"(2003 with Hrittik), "Kabhi albida na kehna" (2006 with Shahrukh, Abhishek, Rani) and "Veer-Zara" (2004 with Shahrukh), "Salaam Namaste"(2005 with Saif Ali) another super hit movies of her career. These make her one of the most strong actress in bollywood industry.

Preity now busy with her business and she want to get relax from acting for some days. She is also involved with charity organization. Another identity of her is smile.
