Deepika was born in Denmark. She is the daughter of Ujjala and Prakash Padukone. Her father was an Indian famous badminton player and mother was a travel agent. She has another younger sister called Anisha. Her childhood spent at Bangalore. With schooling she learnt dance.She also played badminton.

She entered in glamor world at her early age with campaigning product such as Close Up, Liril. She was also assigned by the famous brand Maybelline.Dipeeka was seen also in a music video of Himesh, it was "Naam Tera Tera..."

She achieved the Best Model Of The Year in Kingfisher Fashion Awards. Also won Female Model Of The Year and Fresh Face Of The Year by Zee F Awards in 2006.

In 2006, she first acted in a Kannada film co-star with Aishwarya Rai and Upendra who is the one of the best actor in Kannada Film Industry and then she got chance in bollywood.

Dipeeka started her journey at bollywood in 2007, casting by Farah Khan in her film "Om Shanti Om" with co-star Shahrukh Khan and it was going blockbuster hit in box office.For this one she achieved filmfare best actress (debut) award.

Dipeeka had done very well in this picture. Everybody admired her for her brilliant presentation.Besides this she made a place for her in bollywood and also in people's heart.

In 2008, her next release was "Bachna Hai Haseeno", it also doing good. Then she did a movie with Saif Ali Khan "Love Aaj Kaal" also took place in super hit list, another release of her a movie "Chadni Chowk To Chaina", it could not make proper respond in box office.

In the film "Bachna Hai Hassino" co-star was Bipasha Basu, Minisha Lamba and Ranvir Kapoor. In her real life she was engaged with Ranvir during this film production. But now a days, both of them are maintaining a distance. But seen with other person.

"Love Aaj Kal" which on also done very well made by Saif Ali Khan's production house, he also worked in this film. Saif played double role in this movie and both were nominated for many awards function. At the very recent another hit film released named "House Full" with also Akhsay Kumar, Lara Dutta.
